Councillors Agree To CRB

THURROCK councillors unanimously supported a proposal last night (Wed) to have all councillors screened using the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).

In proposing, Belhus Councillor Charlie Curtis (Lab) said: “It is only fitting that in our role as Corporate Parent, that all 49 Councillors lead the way.

“Being CRB checked is a mark of integrity and shows that we in Thurrock lead the way as safeguarders and civic leaders.”

Chafford Councillor Neil Rockcliffe (Cons) noted a word of caution.

He said: “I totally applaud this proposal however it is important that we think this through and establish what we do should someone have a blemish on their record.”
