Education Boss Sue MacPherson told Full Council on wednesday that she could well understand why parents took their children out of school in term time.
Cllr MacPherson made the statement in response to a question by Labour leader John Kent to clarify the Council’s position.
In her response, Cllr MacPherson informed councillors that the power to take action lay with the individual headteachers. When asked what the council’s position was, she said.
“”It is very difficult for parents when travel companies make such tempting offers in term time that can’t compare especially in these difficult times.”
