An awesome display from Thurrock as they recorded their fourth straight away win, this keeps them unbeaten on their travels in the league this season and closes in on second place Dover Athletic after their surprise defeat at Worcester City.
The game started with the home side having the majority of the possession and looking like potential play off contenders. Thurrock were denied a blatant penalty on 20 minutes when David Bryant had his shirt almost pulled off his back, but the referee disagreed.
On 25 minutes Thurrock hit the back of the net for the first time but the goal was disallowed when Matt Bodkin was adjudged to have been offside. Thurrock continued to push forward and finally took the lead on the stroke of half time when Bodkin broke into the penalty area and took the ball around the keeper and crossed for Leon McKenzie who volleyed home from 10 yards.
Before the home side could implement any advise from their managers half time team talk Thurrock doubled there lead inside 60 seconds of the restart, Fola Orilonishe found acres of space inside the home penalty area and easily scored from close range.
Thurrock wrapped the game up on 58 minutes after a great move, which saw Bodkin flicked the ball through to McKenzie who crossed for Orilonishe to again have a simple tap in from 3 yards.
Fola Orilonishe nearly scored a hat trick but saw his 15 yard volley well saved by the home keeper. With 15minutes remaining on the clock substitute David Knight scored a brilliant 20 yard volley and put the game beyond Basingstoke.
Thurrock then played out the rest of the game comfortably and look forward to next weeks FA Cup Home tie with Potters Bar Town.
