THIS could be the last year in parliament for the South Basildon and East Thurrock MP, Angela Smith. A slim majority, an unpopular government, recession and the Brown factor all lead up to a sense that for all her good work, experience, local popularity and sheer quality as a politician, Angela may be looking for a job come the next election.
But it is back to business. Angela was extremely busy at the party conference recently and that may well indicate to all her competitors that she will not go down without a fight.
