YourThurrock reporter Michael Casey is a regular drinker at the Coffee Republic in Lakeside. The site operates in cyberspace, doesn’t need or have an office so a place like Coffee Republic is an ideal place to sit and write, edit and upload.
The regular drink is the “Skinny Latte Tall” but when he went yesterday, all the “Talls” had been wiped off the menu. The next option is the regular and that is 35 pence more expensive. An interesting way of pushing the price up on a coffee by 15%!.
Having said that, the staff are lovely and it is a fine vantage point from which to work. You just wonder where else are there these “alternative” price increases operating?
