National Skills Academy

MULTI-MILLION funding has been secured for a new state of the art training centre in the Royal Opera House Production Park at High House in Purfleet.

The National Skills Academy training centre will specialise in giving people skills for the theatre and live music industries.

Pauline Tambling, managing director of The National Skills Academy Creative and Cultural Skills told a reporter that: “The £5 million has been secured and we are hopeful of another £8 million soon.

“The money will be spent on a production space where people can rehearse and classrooms. We need people to work in sound and behind the scenes.”

The arts centre project will cost another £10 million to complete and will create 1,000 jobs for Thurrock- it is expected to be complete by 2011.

YourThurrock interviewed Thurrock MP Andrew Mackinlay to gauge his reaction.
