BNP Leader Nick Griffin has told party supporters that he will stand in Barking in the next election.
Many had expected Griffin to stand in Thurrock, especially after his walkabout following the Question Time appearance.
Barking is the constituency of Labour Culture Minister, Margaret Hodge who has a majority of 9,000.
There will now be speculation as to who will stand in Thurrock with the favourite being Tilbury Councillor Emma Colgate.
