Cheshunt 1 v 0 Tilbury

Tilbury travelled to Cheshunt on Saturday – Some major injury concerns ahead of the fixture reports – Steve Taylor Tilbury Physio reports, Daniel Smith, Manlee Brown, Ben Bradbury and Chris Taylor all ruled out for the Trip to Theobald’s Lane on Saturday, also Glen Golby faced a late fitness test after missing the previous 2 games with a cut knee, got the nod 30 minutes before kick off.

Prior to Saturday’s game the Dockers on a good run in the league, were unbeaten in their last 9 games and despite the injury concerns will be keen to continue the form which has seen the Tilbury men claw their way up into the top half of the league table.

Cheshunt kick off just as the rain started to fall – The game falling into dull affair with no action until the 15th minute Cheshunt with a low drive on the Tilbury goal, Andy Hall down low to scoop the ball up.

The Dockers first real attempt on gaol saw Lee Hodges down the left and fires in on gaol, Chehunt’s keeper Luke Dodd caught out of position as the ball looks to be going in the top corner of the net, but Dodd managing to palm the ball out for a corner.

40th minute and Cheshunt’s Boniek Forbes causing a few concerns for the Dockers collects the ball down the left and swings a great ball into the box, The Ambers front man Bradley Harrison with the goal at his mercy hesitates allowing The Dockers skipper Jamie Wallace time to slide the ball from under his feet.

42 minutes gone and Lee Hodges and Joel Barnet connect well, Hodges the supplier as he nudges the ball into the path of Barnet who sends in a left footed shot on goal from 22 yards out – Dodd does well to parry the ball down to safety.

44 minutes and the Dockers get a free kick – Joe Keith the taker, the ball sent into the heart of the Ambers box, but cleared out to the halfway line – Jamie Wallace collects the ball and skips passed 3 Amber shirts and lays the ball into the path of Barnet whose shot is once again competently dealt with by Dodd.

Into injury time and Nathan Gordon sprints off towards the Cheshunt goal and from 25 yards sends over a pin point pass on to the head of Kayan Kalipha whose glancing header sails just passed the post.

The second period now and the rain continued to pour down causing a slippery surface.

No real threat until the 68th minute – Cheshunt’s Daniel Bradford’s long range effort sails inches past the Tilbury post.

70th minute and the Dockers make their first substitute, Lee Hodges making way for Chris Nwosu.

Chris Nwosu straight into the action as he cruises past Ambers defender Glen Parry to smash the ball slightly off target and passed the post.

Dockers Corner taken by Joe Keith – the ball falls to Nwosu 15 yards out who lays the ball into the path of Barnet who smashes the ball goal bound but takes a deflection away from goal and out for another Tilbury corner.

76th minute and the lively Boniek Forbes Cheshunt’s No 7 causing further concerns for the Dockers as the lively midfielder strikes a long range effort just passed the post.

79th minute and Tilbury made their second substitute, Bradley Barnes making way for Chris Stowe – Stowe making his come back after a lengthy absence due to injury.

85th minute and Cheshunt take the lead – A scramble in the Dockers box not cleared which allowed Darren Williams to toe poke the ball over the line from 6 yards out, 1-0 to the Ambers.

Cheshunt keep the hammer down on the Tilbury defence and continue to attack the Dockers goal – A long ball over the top of the

Tilbury defence who were caught napping, allowed Cheshunt in on goal – Hall using the whole of his area to narrow the angle forcing the ball to be driven across goal into the path of Harrison whose effort was scarpered by a Rickie Hayles last minute tackle clearing the ball into Row Z.

The Dockers reduced to 10 men – Match Official Mr Mackay deciding a straight Red was justified – Joel Barnet given his marching orders for an innocuous challenge 30 yards from goal – Barnet was adjudged to have “prevented a goal scoring opportunity” when the ball was going away from goal!

Into injury time and Cheshunt with a long range effort which Andy Hall dealt with proficiently to push over the ball and out for a corner kick.

The game ended with the Dockers unbeaten run coming to an end – The Ambers taking all three points when a point a piece would have been a fairer result.
