BUDGET WATCHERS believe that there could be a “bonfire of the quangos” in Chancellor Alastair Darlings Pre-Budget report and that could include the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation (DC).
Sources believe that West Northamptonshire DC and Thurrock Thames Gateway could be flung on the fire but London Thames Gateway Development Corporation will be saved due to its connection with the Olympics in 2012.
Industry insiders believe that this is exactly the wrong time to ditch the DC as many of its plans, projects, design briefs and proposals are now in full swing.
If the Dc were axed, it is anticipated that the Homes and Communities Agency will take over.
