Appeal after Daylight Rape in Chafford Hundred

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a rape in Chafford Hundred.

The attack happened when a 25-year-old woman was sexually assaulted off Hedingham Road at approximately 2:30pm on Friday, December 4.

The victim was approached by her assailant on Galleon Road, which is close to the railway station, and accompanied back to her home where the assault took place.

Senior Investigating Officer, Det Supt Tracy Hawkings said: “This woman has been through a traumatic experience and this has been evident throughout our time with her. We have been unable to identify the attacker through our normal lines of enquiry and so are appealing to residents for help.

“We want them to cast their minds back to that Friday afternoon between 2-4pm and tell us if they recall seeing the man with this woman or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area.

“This attack was committed against a lone woman and we are anxious to identify the person responsible as soon as possible.”

The assailant is described as black, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, is of medium build, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, has short cropped black hair and was wearing a long, dark coat and black shoes.

The victim is recovering at home.
