SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ROUND TABLE
Knowledge Thurrock Innovation Associates (KTIA) in conjunction with Social Enterprise East of England (SEEE) is hosting an event aimed at supporting Social Enterprises throughout the area.
Social Enterprise Round Table will provide an opportunity for existing managers and individuals interested in setting-up an enterprise to learn more about the opportunities and challenges for this sector, the opportunity to meet, network and do business with other managers and to find out how to take advantage of subsidised support from the KTIA project.
The event, which is supported by East of England Development Agency (EEDA) through the European Regional Development Fund, will take place on Friday 5th February between 0830 and 1030 and bacon baps, tea and coffee will be provided.
Social Enterprise is the fastest growing business model in Europe and organisations generally have social or environmental objectives, reinvest their surpluses into the business or community and are interested in overcoming social injustice or exclusion. Some of the more well known Social Enterprises include retailer John Lewis, The Eden Project in Cornwall, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant 15 and Cafédirect.
As with commercial enterprise in the current difficult economic climate, a key driver for survival is the need for businesses to reduce costs and save money. Director of SEEE Andy Brady will be talking briefly about the opportunities and threats faced by social entrepreneurs in 2010.
