Escape From Alcatraz!

TRIATHLETE, Matt Harris is following in the footsteps, correction, swimming strokes of Clint Eastwood as he attempts to navigate the dangerous waters of Alcatraz and all for Warren primary school Callum Branch.

Callum is heading for the states in July for an operation which will correct surgery in his legs.

Callum’s mother, Sharon said:

“Callum is 6 years old and has cerebral palsy. Callum had a tough start to life, he was born 14 weeks premature and was very lucky to have survived his first night. He proved us and the doctors all wrong and pulled through and after spending 11 weeks in hospital he was allowed to come home.

“Callum is such a bright and happy boy the only thing that stops him from leading a normal life is his legs and the fact that he’s in a wheelchair. Callum has been accepted to have an operation in America, called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, which will get rid of the stiffness in his legs and give him the chance to walk.

“This operation has a 100% success rate and they feel that within time and a lot of hard work on Callum’s part he should be able to walk independently in the future. This would be a life changing operation for him and at last he would be able to keep up with his friends and even kick a football around.

“We need your help to raise £40,000 for us to be able to take Callum over to America for 1 month to enable him to have this operation.

“Our aim is to find 40,000 people to donate just £1 and then we would reach our target. We are hoping to take Callum over to America in July, in the school summer holidays, so that he won’t miss any school so we need your help now. If you could forward this group to all your friends and ask for their help too that would be fantastic.

“We have got to £30,00 but just need the final push. I hope people can help.”
