The Highest Court in the Land

William Edwards’s students brush shoulders with The Queen and Prime Minister at the opening of the “highest court in the land”. 2009 saw the creation of a new Supreme Court to replace the existing system of Law Lords operating as a committee of the House of Lords.

Students from William Edwards were invited to the grand opening where they were quizzed by a variety of minsters such as Home Secretary Jack Straw as well as the borough’s own MP.

For many of the students it has kindled an interest in politics and law that may well bear fruit in future years.
