IT HAS to be one of the remarkable tranformation stories in the borough. Collins House is the only council-run care home in the borough but eighteen months ago received a zero rating from government watchdogs CQC.
The watchdogs painted a picture of a care home that was run primarily for the staff with a heavy whiff of institutionalisation.
Eighteen months later and the letter arrived on the door of the Corringham home that the care home had improved to a “Good” standard.
Staff were delighted but also privately confident that this was the mark that their hard work deserved.
Tomorrow we will publish our interview with staff and residents at the home.
Corporate Director, Lorna Payne was delighted and was effusive in her praise of the Collins House team.
