Firefighters were called to fire in a kitchen in Vicarage Square, Grays.
The kitchen was smoke logged and a 31 year old man suffered from smoke inhalation.
Fire crews administered oxygen therapy and first aid to the man. He was then placed in the care of the Ambulance Service. The incident was dealt with by 15:18
