EAST Thurrock moved into second place in the Ryman One North in what could be their most significant performance of the season.
Kyle Ruel opened the scoring after 25 minutes. Before then, the Rocks has tried in vain to find an opening with Northwood keeper, Bobby Smith in fine form. Eight minutes later, the irrepressible Sam Higgins popped up to fire in his 21st goal of the season as it looked like Rock would run away with it.
Woods boss Dave Anderson rang the changes with a double substitution and it paid dividends when sub Eugene Ofori forced the ball into the back of the net. Minutes later they equalised and East Thurrock started to look fragile again.
The game became a feisty battle but Rocks won out with a decisive goal in the 79th minute when Steve Harrison hammered home after a goalmouth scramble.
