Police are appealing for information about an armed robbery from the Total One, London Road Service Station, Grays in the early hours of this morning, at about 3 am.
A man spoke to the shop assistant through the service hatch distracting him and he and another man then forced entry through the main door. The men forced the 44-year-old male shop assistant to the back of the shop demanding money from the safe and locked him in. One of the men was armed with a long knife.
They then stole a three figure sum of cash from the tills and cigarettes before making off through the rear fire exit. They are described as both white, one was 6′, slim build and the other 5′ 6″ muscular stocky build.
Both wore similar clothing consisting of black peaked caps similar to a balaclava, zipped up black jackets and dark bottoms. The shorter man was carrying a black drawstring bag with bright yellow drawstring and yellow writing on it. It is not known if the men arrived on foot or had a vehicle.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity or vehicles near to the service station. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dc Ford at Tilbury on 0300 333 4444.
