A 52-year-old pedestrian who died in hospital after being hit by a white van while walking in Grays has been identified by police.
Barry Baker of College Close, Grays, died on Friday evening after being hit by the van in Whitehall Lane.
He had been taken to Basildon University Hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
Police gave no information about the van driver but continued an appeal for witnesses to contact them.
Friends have paid tribute to Barry on social networking sites.
Maureen said: “Barry what a lovely friend to have. We will miss you so much but you will always be in our hearts. Love to you and deepest sympathy to your family. We were privileged to know you.”
