IT was heartening to see the publicity that the Royal Opera House (ROH) technical facility garnered in the press this week. The Observer ran a piece last weekend and BBC London News also showcased the Purfleet facility last night (friday).
What has been particularly impressive is the work the ROH staff have been undertaking with the schools in the borough. A few weeks ago we featured their ninety minute opera work with Grays School and last night on BBC London, there they were, making a star out of one South Ockendon primary pupil.
We caught up with composer Richard Taylor before a session at Purfleet Primary to ask about his role and the direction the work was taking.
