Rod Stringer is not going to have a very good Saturday evening. He will sit at home tonight wondering just how his team who were leading by 3 goals to 1 ended up with nothing from this game.
Steve Butterworth had opened the scoring on 34 minutes after some year 8 defending by the Kingstonian defence. Aveley dominated for the rest of the half when the half time hot dog was ruined by Carl Wilson Dennis (father a Beach Boys fan?) who netted right on 45 minutes.
Sherwin Stanley had impressed the Kingstonian press and looked dangerous going forward and lobbed the keeper wonderfully on 51 minutes swiftly followed by Ryan Edgar on 57 min.
So 3-1 up and all smiles until a Kingstonian substitution ruined the party. Great work on the left wing and Bobby Traynor netted from the penalty spot on 74 mins and again on 81 minutes .
That takes him to 23 this season and league top scorer. Just as the board had gone up for the three minutes the visitors snatched the winner.
Aveley got a stern dressing down after that performance and now drop to 12th place. Maybe a blip but Rod will need a better Saturday night next week .
