SAFE Radio were celebrating today after Ofcom announced that they have awarded a new FM community radio licence to the Southend-based company.
Safe Radio will be a music-based station for young people in Grays and surrounding areas of Thurrock. The service aims to unite young people from different backgrounds and give them a platform to air their views and promote understanding, tolerance and respect.
The radio station will be operated by young people who will be given the opportunity to be trained in radio presentation techniques.
A statement setting out the main determining factors for the award of the community radio licence to SAFE Radio will be published in the radio licensing section of Ofcoms April Communications Monthly Update.
