AT THE beginning of the season, it was all about survival for Aveley after gaining promotion on the last day of the season.
Since then, Rod Stringer’s men have been on a rollercoaster season. At one stage, just a couple of months ago they were only two points off the relegation zone.
Since then, the team have been plugging away and quietly but effectively accumulating three points and climbing up the table.
But time is now their biggest enemy. Last week they were confronted with nine games in nineteen days. They dispatched play off contenders Hastings with three goals in the first half. Saturday was expected to be a seaside stroll at lowly Margate but Aveley looked very tired however they pulled off a remarkable comeback with goals in the 92nd and 94th minutes.
Aveley are now in seventh place and just two points off the play off zones.
If they beat Bognor Regis tonight, then they will be in the play off zone. A remarkable achievement on its own.
Fatigue may get the players in the end so come along and be the twelfth man. The Millermen need you!
