The Tories in South Basildon and East Thurrock don’t need any motivation but nevertheless, Chairman of the Conservative Party, Eric Pickles MP drive into Stanford in his battle bus to rally the troops.
Eric has known Stephen Metcalfe a long time since Stephen was a councillor in Abridge and so his backing and support for Mr Metcalfe was not just rhetoric. You had the feeling that he not only felt it was his time but was there to give Stephen that personal stamp of approval.
Mr Pickles described Stephen as a “shoe-in” for the seat but with Angela Smith ratching up the Pitsea factor, there is still all to play for.
The Tories must win Sth Basildon & E Thurrock as a Labour win there means another Brown Commons majority. Lib Dems, UKIPers and Greens can safely vote Tory to stop it without giving Cameron/Osborne their own majority. But 100 seats lower on the Tory target list in Thurrock voting Tory is too risky. A win there likely means a Tory majority so in Thurrock Labour must be backed to stop it.
One thing we dont want is a hung parliament and still have gormeless gordon holding onto the leadership
Lambo your could not be more correct but what about gormeless Garry holding onto the leadership of Thurrock Council. Such would be equally disastrous!!!!! At least gormless Gordon has more serious credentials than gormless Garry.
