Despite being postponed at the beginning of the year, the participants from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award were finally presented with their Bronze, Silver or Gold award at the annual celebration evening at the Civic Hall.
Guest speaker and legendary charity fundraiser, Lloyd Scott, MBE, presented the awards and was clearly overwhelmed by the dedication, determination and commitment shown by all of the successful participants who achieved their awards.
I hope everyone who attended the evening would agree that it was a faultless success from beginning to end and truly captured the spirit of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Both team leaders and participants worked incredibly hard together to provide a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all. I know the evening certainly made me feel very proud to be a part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award having seen the difference it makes to the lives of so many young people.
Special thanks has to go to Jacky Phillips, Rachel Baker and all of the participants for organising and executing such a prestigious evening. In addition, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the team leaders and volunteers involved within the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Thurrock. Without their exceptional service and excellent dedication, the Duke of Edinburgh’s would not be the brilliant success that it is!
