Blues to drop to Essex Senior League

The FA have ,this afternoon , confirmed that Grays Athletic are set to play in the Essex Senior league next season. They have been give step 5 placement. This will mean that the club will have been relegated 4 leagues

The club are uncertain where they will play in the new season but a possible groundshare with Tilbury looks likely.

Grays were hoping to be placed in the Ryman Leagues but this has not happened .

Grays boss Andy Swallow said yesterday that Tilbury was the preffered fans choice but all options were still open.

Club Secretary Joel Nathan has promised a club statement once they have had time to react to the decision

In other Grays news RUSHDEN & DIAMONDS captain Jamie Stuart has signed a new one-year contract with the Blue Square Premier club.

The 33-year-old joined the Diamonds from Grays Athletic last summer and played 47 times for the club in what proved to be a successful 2009/10 season.

His performances earned him the Supporters’ Player and Travel Club Away Player of the Season awards and Diamonds boss Justin Edinburgh feels Stuart can help continue the club’s progress into next term.

And former Grays Boss Wayne Burnett now at Dagenham and Redbridge watched in sheer disbelief as the Daggers took a massive step towards Wembley by demolishing Morecambe 6-0 in the first leg of their play off match.
