As part of his regular column Hakan reflects on the awards night and plans for the future.
THURROCK had a great presentation evening recently and I was especially pleased that Hassan Oktay won the Clubman of the year, his enthusiasm and effort is second to none and has made a big impact on the players.
The players had no doubt in voting for their player of the year, Leon Lalite he had a marvellous season and is a special player.
I am still talking to players who have contacted me looking to join our club, we need to increase the squad size as this caused plenty of issues for me last season, we have to work to a budget so its important to get good value for money.
We have a great squad of reserve players and congratulations to them and Keith Day, finishing up as runners up in the Essex Herts Borders League. Some of these players are close to making the big step to the first team squad and we have applied to play in the Capital league next season which will help to bridge this gap.
I am hopeful that the current set of players will be with us again next season so we can build on this season’s success. We are all getting ready for our annual team building event in Magaluf in the next couple of days, this will be tough for everyone going as it involves long hours and very little rest plus beach football, but hopefully the team bonding will help us with our ambitious goals for next season.
