On wednesday, the Tilbury Riverside Project combined forces with Thames21, to pick litter along the promenade close to the Tilbury Ferry.
They were also joined by local councillors who, despite the sweltering conditions, made a considerable inroad into the deluge.
This was well supported and they managed to collect 40 bags of rubbish from just 300 yards of beach area.
This consisted of Beer and Fizzy drink cans, Plastic bottles of all shapes and sizes, and general rubbish, they even collected a television aerial!
They were assisted by Thurrock council as well, so it was a very sucessful day.
It is hoped that this will become a regular feature.
