OVER the decades the great and the good of the music industry have played at the Isle of Wight Music Festival. Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Paul MacCartney, REM, Tiny Tim have all graced the stage.

This year, a Grays band, will join the hallowed line-up.

Waterburner, won the Absolute Radio’s “One Last Dream” competition to open the festival.

The band formed in 1993 and secured a record deal, but never made it big.

They split in 2000 after playing more than 700 gigs together, for money and family reasons.

Singer Craig Watson, 38, said: “We got a record deal, supported big bands but never quite made it.”

One Last Dream was about reuniting old bands who never made it the first time round.

They have also recorded an original single at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, which is available to download at www.absoluteradio.co.uk from today.

Craig added: “The single is a cover of the Squeeze song Tempted, but slightly rocked up for the Waterburner sound.”

The other members of Waterburner are Graham Okey, 46, on guitar, Dave Watters, 43, on bass, and James Cliff, 30, on drums.

Here are the band in action.
