Young local Chadwell St Mary boxer Michael Maloney 54kg 14 represented England in the Three Nations Boxing Championships held over 12th and 13th June at the Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Maloney came up against William Mowatt of Barn A.B.C Scotland in the semi finals and out boxed him with a final score of 26/11.
Maloney then met the strong Premier ABC boxer Luca Dragone of Wales and out pointed him by a score of 27/11 with fast combinations of punches and his added natural ability to switch his style of boxing from southpaw to orthodox.
Maloney’s coach Scot Johnston was enthralled with both of Mikey’s performances as both boys he boxed were more experienced boxers.
Scot said “Mikey is a very talented young boxer who will go very far in boxing due to his input of hard training and commitment to the sport”.
Mikey’s team-mate Olympic hopeful Nina Smith is currently in Crete with the female GB boxing squad at training camp.
