Police are appealing for information after three guinea pigs were stolen from Danbury Crescent, South Ockendon.
Between 1am and 11am on Sunday, June 20, suspects climbed a wall to gain access to the garden and took three male guinea pigs from their hutch, worth an estimated £100. The guinea pigs are all adult, one is white with grey flecks, one is ginger with black and one is tri coloured with a wiry coat.
Investigating officer, Pc Alex Brooks, said: “This is a really unusual thing to steal, and worst of all they are not just items, but family pets. The children these pets belong to have been left devastated and very upset by their loss.
“I would appeal to the conscience of anyone that knows who is responsible to come forward so we can reunite them with their family. Also, if you are approached to buy these animals, please contact police as soon as possible.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at South Ockendon police station on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
