“THEY are blinding pets” says Ian Biggs who houses over fifty ferrets at his Stanford-le-Hope sanctuary. It is clearly a labour of love for Ian and his stall at the East Tilbury Community Day attracted a host of interested admirers and an avalanche of questions.
St Clere’s school in partnership with the community forum organise the day to bring all facets of the community together. As people are drawn to the stall and the ferret races they also learn a lot about ferrets and animal husbandry in general. It is a gentle but pertinent way of educating people and bringing the community closer together.
