A GROUP of young Thurrock people have been working hard in recent weeks sprucing up the area behind Stanford-le-Hope library in the High Street.
But the team have done more than simply create a new seating area for the town’s book lovers; they raised money to do the work with a ten-mile sponsored walk and a car wash.
The group of 16- to 25-year-olds also persuaded local companies to make generous donations ― RIO (Recycled in Orsett) donated paving for example.
This is the 32nd Prince Trust team effort in Thurrock and preparations are underway for number 33.
The Prince’s Trust programme is looking for new members to join Team 33, which starts on 27 September and runs for 12 weeks. If you are interested in gaining new skills, giving something back to the community and meeting new people call or text Anna Lane on 07747 621782.
The programme for young people involves a week away, work experience with local companies and a community work project.
The Trust is also on the lookout for local companies willing to offer work-placements or who might be able to offer equipment for the community projects and for more community projects. Contact the same number for expressions of interest.
