SOME of you avid YourThurrock followers may know that I have embarked on yet another crazy challenge which involves cycling from London to Paris in aid of Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
As part of my training for this challenge I joined 6,499 other cycling enthusiasts for the London Bikeathon 2010 in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. However, rather than opting for the 13 mile bikeathon as I did last year; I accepted the 52 mile cycle challenge around the great city of London . And what a super duper challenge it was!
Apart from the constant dazzle of red traffic lights and blooming big red buses vroom vrooming a little to close for my liking; both Bertie Bubble and I had a brilliant time! We even managed to let go of the handlebars and indicate right! Happy days!
I have never been a fan of London because it has always been far too hustly and bustly for my scatty self. However, as Bertie Bubble and I zipped through the city streets we were constantly in awe of this magnificent city. On route we passed St Pauls, the Millennium Dome, the Houses of Parliament as well as many others.
No words can really do justice to how brilliant this event is and the remarkable difference it makes to the lives of so many people. All I can say is, step away from your computer, jump up on the saddle and pedal power your way towards making a real difference for yourself and a truly worthy charity.
A big congratulations has to go to the event organisers and all of the volunteers who braved the heat to make the London Bikeathon 2010 a real success. See you next year!!
If you want to support my London to Paris cycle ride for Little Havens then feel free to poodle over to my fundraising page (www.justgiving.com/bertiebubble) and pop a few pennies in the pot. You’re support means everything – thanks for reading!!
