HERE at YourThurrock, we attend a huge variety of events every week. On Thursday, I was invited to speak at the Springhouse Guild at Corringham Village Hall.
On a very warm afternoon, over sixty ladies had gathered for their monthly meeting. Apparently, this was quite a low number and they often get over a hundred.
My overall impression of the meeting was one of good manners, good will and good spirit. As a guest, you are met at the door, asked if you would like a cup of tea, listened to attentively, asked interesting questions. At the end, a member gives a wonderful vote of thanks. Many of the ladies asked for my card and then escorted to the door and thanked once again.
There was something quintessentially english about the whole afternoon, something worth being proud of and definitely something worth preserving.
