Police have appealed for witnesses after a driver was critically injured in a crash on the A13 at Orsett early today, Friday July 9.
The incident happened at about 1.30am on a slip road from the London-bound carriageway to the Orsett Cock services when a red Ford Transit van collided with railings and a sign. No other vehicles were involved.
The driver of the van, a man in his 60s from the Grays area, received serious head and leg injuries and was taken to Basildon University Hospital. His condition was said to be critical but stable.
One lane of the A13 and the slip road to the services area was closed until just before 6am while police carried out an initial investigation.
