Council Leader John Kent: Grasping The Challenge

IT COULD be that in a years time, when the council is staring down the barrel of cuts to the tune of £14 million, cuts that could see the services slashed by 40% that people will reflect back and remember when people were quibbling about a library.

Council Leader John Kent has taken his Portfolio Holders on a steep learning curve. Their “hot-housing” has involved working very closely with the officers to try and make the cuts as “painless” as possible. The key concerns are front line services.

YourThurrock spoke to cllr Kent to assess where the council is, 48 hours before the proposals go before the council.
