TORY leader, Garry Hague has pledged to investigate the comments made by Chafford Hundred Councillor Neil Rockcliffe on his facebook site.
As YourThurrock exclusively revealed, cllr Rockcliffe made reference to “Chaffrica” on his facebook site.
Since YourThurrock broke the news, the BBC team at Westminster has contacted Mr Rockcliffe, who has subsequently issued an apology.
The story has also made the headlines at BBC 5 Live Drive time this evening.
Soon after, cllr Garry Hague announced: “We are taking this extremely seriously, we will take whatever action is necessary.”
Councillor Rockcliffe is up for re-election next May. The Tories in East Thurrock began their selection and re-selection procedure earlier this week. It is uncertain when the Thurrock Tories will begin theirs.
Neil Rockliffe – Conservative Councillor for Chafford. How dare this man have that title. A councillor serves the best interests of the community he represents. Directly elected to represent their ward. There to create harmony in the county they reside in. None of these descriptions represent this vile and hypocritical individual. But in the interests of democracy I now throw down the gauntlet to the insipid ex-leader of the council to redeem himself and give the people of Chafford justice and for those of us that believe that like everything else this will be allowed to slide down the now familiar path of apathy. PROVE ME WRONG GARRY. I know issue a challenge directly to Garry Hague to put his house in order and deal with this immediately, decisively and publicly. This man must go in order to send a clear message that racism and discrimination will not be tolerated by anyone and certainly not by a person elected to serve the PUBLIC interest in an honourable and equitable manner. The only reason for taking no action can only be viewed as a silent agreement of what has been done by this bigoted individual. Perhaps he would be better suited to joining Emma Colgate in the BNP where he could really let rip. I now give you seven days notice that should this disgusting incident be allowed to slide I will be requesting that the real Leader of the Conservative Party – David Cameron- be apprised of the facts along with the Standards Board.
