Ormiston Building To Go Ahead

ORMISTON PARK Academy in Aveley is among the school building projects that will now go ahead.

Half of the 152 schools placed under review have now been given the green light.

Education Secretary Michael Gove said 33 schools which had reached close of dialogue stage will now be allowed to proceed. There will be a spending review at Ormiston.

Gove also today gave the green light to 44 academy projects far advanced in a national rebuilding programme, but a further 75 academy projects will be scaled back after their funding has been reviewed.

The decision brings relief to many contractors counting the cost of bidding projects and probably goes far enough to avert costly claims against the Government.

But many local authorities have spent millions of pounds on planning schemes, which will not now go ahead.
