O2 pledged to continue to apply for planning permission to erect phone masts in Chafford Hundred despite seeing their latest application turned down by Thurrock Council.
On Thursday night, Thurrock Council’s planning department rejected their application to erect a 41 foot phone mast on the corner of Warren Lane and Clock House Lane .
Officers recommended the committee refused it on the grounds that it would have a negative impact on the amenities and outlook of the house nearest to it on Sylvan Close.
They also raised concerns about highway and pedestrian safety.
02 spokesman Jim Stevenson : “This is the second time we have had an application turned down. But this is simply a matter of when not if.”
Members from the No Masts on Chafford group spoke to the committee as well as local councillor Tunde Ojetola who made an impassioned plea on behalf of his residents.
