LABOUR LEADERSHIP candidate, Ed Balls made a flying visit to Thurrock this afternoon to rally support for his campaign.
Mr Balls was greeted at the Springhouse Club in Corringham by Lady Angela Smith who has pledged her support for the Shadow Education Secretary.
In his speech, he stressed the importance of the country not dipping down into recession. In front of a packed audience of party faithful and in the shadow of three local senior schools he stressed the importance of investment in education.
Mr Balls has also stressed on why the Labour Party lost on May 6th. He said: “From the north-west mill towns to the Medway towns, too many people on lower incomes who voted Labour in the past thought we were not always listening to their concerns on jobs, housing and fair migration.
“So we need a leader who doesn’t just listen, but hears, acts and can take people with them and is as at home speaking to mums, dads and pensioners or knocking doors on a council estate as at think tank seminars or international meetings”.
