Regeneration Of West Thurrock Gathers Pace

A CLEAR signal was given by the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation (DC) that the regeneration of the West Thurrock and South Stifford area is gathering apace yesterday (Monday).

The Planning Committee approved a proposal for outline planning permission for the replacement of industrial buildings with a development of up to 154 new homes, public open space and infrastructure.

The area proposed is on the William Ball Site on Gumley Road.

The approval comes soon after permission was granted for 167 new homes at Drapers Yard in London Road earlier this year.

Committee member Deep Sagar stressed that: “Space will be vital here. We do not want people living in matchboxes.”

  1. Will West Thurrock & South Stifford end up like Chafford Hundred with every bit of space taken up with houses and industry?
