FEARS concerning violence have prompted Thurrock Police to raise objections to a Gay, Lesbian and Transgender night out in West Thurrock next month.
The party has been planned for Saturday October 1st at The Bungalow, Flint Street, West Thurrock.
Their concerns have been set out in a proposal that will be discussed by Thurrock Council’s Licensing Committee on Monday September 27th.
In the report, the police explain their reasons for objecting to the licensing of the event. They state: “A serious incident has taken place at on the 4th September 2010 at the premises, resulting in serious disorder, drunkenness, underage drinking and serious assaults leading to serious injuries”.
Essex Police have confirmed that one arrest was made at the scene.
Essex Police have also alleged that the Licence Holder, Lisa Whittall was involved in the premises when it was not licensed under the Licensing Act 2003.
the police objected to our gay nite at the “NEW VENUE” because of an isolated incident away from the property at an 18th birthday in september, i am not the licence holder but an organiser of the nite “pop machine”, i actually live next door at the bunbgalow, trust me it aint big enough for a party but the venue is fortunately to all local gay people please come and support us and show the police and council we do not cause trouble! see you on the 1st October our website is http://www.popmachine.co.uk
