Council tenants have a chance to win £100 worth of Lakeside Shopping vouchers if they take advantage of gas safety checks offered by Thurrock Council.
If tenants provide access at the first appointment, they will be entered into the monthly prize draw.
So far seven vouchers have been given away to very happy tenants since the start of the scheme in February 2010.
Gas safety is very important and residents are being urged to check their gas appliances to ensure they are safe and up to standard – anything less than 100 per cent could put lives at risk.
Cllr Andy Smith, Thurrock Council’s portfolio-holder for Housing, said: “Gas safety checks are free for council tenants and must be carried out by law at least once a year.
“For the financial year 2009/10, the council hit its target of 100 per cent for gas safety checks. This means that all tenanted properties have been inspected within a 12 month period.
“The 100 per cent target was achieved by partnership working between the Housing Department, Europa, Econogas and the council’s tenants.”
