Charlie Sansom: More bubble than Buble

WHAT a voice. It has the resonance of a sixty a day smoker but there is a velvet quality to Charlie’s voice as well. YourThurrock spotted Charlie singing at the Stanford Festival. Since then he as been building up his repertoire as well as his live presentation. Last night, Charlie put in a storming set at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet.

YourThurrock caught up with Charlie in a session at Castaways in Pitsea where he recorded two numbers plus spoke to us about his singing.

  1. Charlie is obviously a real major Thurrock Talent – worthy of a place in Sinatra’s Rat-Pack status even – he deserves pride of place as one of our Greats. I hope he gets the support he deserves. He shares my surname – so I am really proud of that too! Pity we don’t have more small nightclub venues for serious socialites of Thurrock – where Charlie could perform in more intimate kind of settings – he’d never be out of work – that is certain. I recall we had a JAZZ CLUB in Grays once! back in the 60s – and it was fabulous – so – what happened to real life for Thurrock – and real singers like Charlie? – lost to mass-produced clones …. sad fact of Thurrock Life. Vive Charlie Sansom – and : for the first T-shirt logo – CHARLIE’S ‘ANSOM TOO! – a man written in time… put me on your email register for appreance updates please :
