Residents of Foxfield Drive in the Homesteads Ward are celebrating after a planning appeal was dismissed for a second time.
Cllr Pauline Tolson said “On two seperate occaisons Thurrock Councils Planning Committee have refused developments on this site and on both occasions the owner of the site has appealed and on both occasions the appeal has been dismissed by a Government Inspector.”
Cllr Tolson went on to say, “I think Thurrock Councils planning committee and the government inspector have made the right decision and recognised the H11 Policy, designed to protect residential areas from over intensive development.
The most recent application was to shoehorn four dwellings and eight parking spaces onto this site.
Mr Steven Peak, resident said “Thank you to past Cllr John Everett and present Cllrs Pauline Tolson, Sue Macpherson and James Halden for their support and likewise to past MP Angela Smith and current MP Stephen Metcalfe.
Malcolm Stansfield, resident said “The Council has the H11 Policy in place and this policy is enthusiastically supported by residents, Councillors and Members of Parliament.
Sadly, Mr Paul Wilson, resident who also strongly opposed the planning application didn’t get to receive the good news as he passed away earlier this year.
