Firefighters and police were called to a road traffic collision on the A13 involving one vehicle.
The vehicle hit a lamppost and careered down the embankment on the westbound section near to the Tilbury turn-off.
Crews used a triple extension ladder and lines to make the vehicle safe by 5pm.
A 25-year-old man was placed in the care of the ambulance service.
