Orsett and Rayleigh both maintained their 100% records with victories in week four of the U12 youth indoor cricket competition at Grays School. Orsett met Thurrock “A” and the latter were dismissed for 87, through Regan Boughen who claimed two wickets at a cost of just 12 runs. Will Gibbon and Connor Boreham then scored 25 not out and 22 respectively as Thurrock lost the match – and their own unbeaten record – by five wickets.
For Thurrock, Connor Ramm scored 15 and Brandon Williams hit 14. Rayleigh raced to a 62-run victory over Belhus “A”. Four batsmen made significant contributions in a Rayleigh runfest, being Max Jones 32, Matthew Dobson 26, Jordan Jacobs 20 and Joshua Jones 31. But for the first time in this year’s competition, Rayleigh lost wickets, as Belhus claimed all six.
Mark Fogg produced the best bowling analysis of the competition to date, his performance of 4-22 eclipsing all others so far. The Belhus batting was below par, though Andrew Williams top socred with 17. For Rayleigh, Conor Slough took 2-14 and Jones 2-7. Meanwhile, Thurrock “B” had a comfortable six-wicket win over Horndon on the Hill thanks to 19 not out from Alfie Feeney and 16 not out from Connor Newton.
