Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust welcomed 16 Finnish student nurses who were keen to learn from their Basildon counterparts during a trip to the UK. The third year students were accompanied by Bernard Anderson (pictured) from Anglia Ruskin University and received a guided tour of A&E, SAU and the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre by Alison Griffiths, Head of Nursing Training & Education (pictured far left) and Rachel Webster, Senior Nurse, Practice Development Facilitator (pictured front row, second from left in black suit with name badge) at Basildon University Hospital. The students were thrilled to be able to visit Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and were able to make a direct comparison with their experience in the local hospitals in Finland.
Diane Sarkar, director of nursing at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were delighted that our Finnish colleagues chose to visit Basildon and meet some of our student nurses here, as we are so proud of our training and education programme. I hope they gained a good idea of the character of a large district hospital and its services – including the specialist services that we offer.
