New Golf Course makes good progress

The new golf course being constructed on the Wennington / Aveley border is beginning to take shape.

The 27 hole course is just a sea of mud at the moment but using heavy machinery and incorparating the very lastest GPS technology the brown will turnto green very soon.

The course architect, Alan Walker, has designed a challenging layout of three loops of nine holes, each starting from and returning to the clubhouse. Golfers will be able to choose which nines they wish to play to make up their 18 holes of golf.

The three nine hole loops will be known as the North Nine (Par 36), the East Nine (Par 35) and the South Nine (Par 36). Each nine will have different playing characteristics to offer a challenge to all standards of golfer.

Course Construction
The course will be constructed in stages, beginning with the North Nine, due to the landform changes that are required. We hope to open sections of the course for play prior to completion of the overall project.

Driving Range & Academy
The driving range will be open to the public 7 days per week. 30 bays will be constructed using only sustainable materials, in keeping with our environmental approach to the overall project. The range and academy will offer an ideal starting point for those wishing to take up golf and for families who like to enjoy sporting activities together.

The driving range should open towards the end of 2011.

yourthurrock will be following developments with a keen interest. Fore!
