Around midday two guards, one man and one female, were threatened by two white men with firearms outside the Murco garage on London Road. The robbers, who had their faces covered, escaped with the security box containing thousands of pounds, getting into a burgandy Ford Escort waiting nearby in Ruskin Road. The car drove off towards Orsett Cock. The guards were unharmed but shaken up.
Police need to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery or anyone who had previously been in the area and noticed the car or men behaving suspiciously. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Tilbury CID on 0300 333 4444 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
